Feisty Bento #224: Whole Grain Goodness

What, you didn't believe me that I was going to have sandwiches every day???

Arnold's 15 Grain bread with mayo, roast beef, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, and home-grown basil.  Better than pesto, n'est-ce pas?
Macaroni salad; green beans in vinaigrette (drained); potato salad; Mandarin oranges from a can

Despite this being similar to my other sandwiches, I'm actually still keen on eating this.  Maybe it's because I'm feeling hungry.  Maybe because it looks good.  Who knows?  But my question is: what kind of sandwich should I have tomorrow?  :)

Happy bento!!!

  1. I don't have any suggestions on what you should have a sandwich tomorrow. I do want to say you've given me a whole new respect for sandwich bentos. I haven't been real keen on those in the past. Yours have looked completely yummy this week. I think it is because I get stuck in a sandwich and chips rut. Nice work!

  2. Jenn, I totally feel you. The first time I made a sandwich bento, I totally felt like it wasn't bento, it was a waste, it was stupid, and I thought for sure I wouldn't enjoy it that much. But then I ate it, and really liked it, and realized how quick and easy it is to make them, and they're quite delicious (well, I've always been a big sandwich fan, to be honest, but sandwiches with STUFF, not just turkey+bread). The only problem I have is that usually, sandwich bento, unless it's a leftover sandwich from something, I wind up having too much stuff - bread, meat, etc. that have to be used pretty soon - so I have to eat sandwiches for a while...

  3. yum yum!

I lvoe whole grain bread with roast beef, its such a good combo

i'm kinda hungry for a gool 'ole tuna sammich, maybe you could whip up an extra yummy one!

YVO: you can freeze lunchmeat and most sandwich ingredients. I'll prepack lunchmeat into single servings and toss them in the freezer. then i just pull out one little package of meat when i need it. if you are in a hurry just toss it in the microwave for 30 seconds to thaw

i usually keep my other sandwich ingredients on hand because i use them in other things (mayo, tomatoes, olives, spinnach etc)

I buy my cheese in the deli so I can just buy what i need instead of a huge pack (and surprisingly walmart has some really tasty cheeses and meats in their deli)

I've also seen people freeze finished sandwiches, but thats not something i wanna try because i like tomatoes on mine (i suppose i could add them later)
