Jar: beef stew (recipe to come; needs a little tweak)
Cup: broccoli stem and shredded carrot kinpira - the last of it, unfortunately :(
This first attempt at stew (I've made beef stew before... it's hard to explain... whatever!) needs a little tweak. I want a slight sour tang to it, since the flavor is smooth and rich. I'll have to taste it more when I get home tonight to really play with the flavors. Maybe it just needs more pepper? But when I eat it, I just want it to have a slight sourness to it that is missing. Hmm.
Happy bento!!!
Hi Yvo
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your stuff for a while, mostly for bento ideas, but I thought I might have an idea for your stew - usually for me, if I want to add sourness to something I add citrus or vinegar. Hope your next version of the stew turns out the way you want it to!
i have a chili recipe that calls for two bottles of chili sauce, like Heinz. i think it makes the chili a little sour/vinegary, which i don't exactly like, but might be perfect for this purpose?
ReplyDeleteRed Wine adds a sourness to stews, especially beef.
